Dr. Jessica J. Ruiz is the Chief Psychologist and Director of Behavioral Health Associates of Broward, Counseling Centers of Goodman JFS (BHAB). Dr. Ruiz obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where her training focused on motivational evidenced-based treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders. She completed her internship, postdoctoral training and was a junior faculty member at Yale University’s School of Medicine where she obtained additional clinical experience with the treatment of serious mental illness, addiction and trauma. Dr. Kasi G. Patterson is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at BHAB with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of mental health settings. He specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who struggle with emotional, behavioral and developmental disorders. Dr. Patterson received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and his Masters in Psychology from Gallaudet University, his Masters in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University and his Bachelors in Psychology from Villanova University. He is proficient in American Sign Language.
Dr. Maribel Del Rio-Roberts is an Associate Professor within the Department of Human Services at the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education at Nova Southeastern University. She is also a Licensed Psychologist with an expertise in childhood and adolescent disorders, including autism and developmental disabilities. Dr. Del Rio-Roberts oversees the Master of Science in Developmental Disabilities at NSU. She also serves as a Clinical Director for Strong Minds at Special Olympics Florida. She obtained her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology and Masters in Psychology at Albizu University. Dr. Del Rio-Roberts obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University.
Arlene Borenstein is a Reporter for the NBC 6 news team. Arlene has worked in the nation’s top news markets including Washington D.C. and New York, but is happy to be back home reporting for WTVJ. In Washington, D.C., she helped launched NBC’s digital nonstop channel for WRC. She covered breaking news for NY1 News in New York City. One of her series stories led to the repair of many broken fire alarm safety boxes which are required for those who are hard of hearing. Arlene graduated with honors from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in Communication and a Minor in English.
