Some insurance companies may limit the number of sessions or restrict the type of services that can be provided or the behavioral health challenges that can be addressed. Additionally, information such as your diagnosis and treatment will not need to be disclosed to your insurance company if you elect to private pay. You also have more choice with respects to choosing a clinician who you feel is best suited to address your needs given their level of training, specialties and experience. Telehealth offers several benefits to face-to-face counseling such as removing barriers related to travel. For individuals with challenging work schedules, telehealth may allow for more flexibility to fit your schedule. The research shows that online counseling is as effective as face-to-face counseling. However, their may be situations when telehealth services may not be appropriate or helpful and face-to-face counseling would be advised. For example, if you are in need of more intensive psychotherapy, are in crisis or simply prefer meeting with a therapist in person in order to disclose important information, telehealth services may not be the best fit. If you are unsure, our clinicians can speak with you and provide guidance and options.
